Playground was born in late 2019 with a simple but powerful idea. What if exercise felt like play again? Founder Rhys Jolly set out to build something different, a training space where fitness wasn’t a chore or a punishment, but a natural, energising part of your day. Think back to when you were a kid: movement wasn’t something you scheduled… it was something you chased. That’s the feeling we wanted to recreate, where workouts feel fun, engaging, and something you actually look forward to.

But as Playground grew, so did its mission. ​We realised we weren’t just creating a fun space to move, we were building a smarter way to train. A place where:

  • Every class has a purpose, built on proven training principles 

  • Cutting-edge technology gives you real-time feedback to unlock your best performance

We called it Playground because movement should feel good again. What started as a vision has grown into a community where thousands of people aren’t just getting fitter, but also becoming happier, more confident, and more connected.

You don’t have to be the fittest, the fastest, or the strongest to belong here. You just have to show up and we’ll meet you where you’re at.

The Playground experience isn’t your standard group training session. It’s designed to challenge you both mentally and physically through a method created by our leading Personal Trainers, who personalise your training around your goals, fitness level, and injury prevention. Every workout is built to help you become the fittest version of yourself, safely and sustainably.

From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll feel the difference: a high five to welcome you, music to fire you up, and coaches to guide you through YOUR workout. You’ll push, lift, sweat, and be motivated alongside others doing the same and when it’s done, you can refuel and connect at our coffee bar.

THE PLAYGROUND TRAINING SYSTEM.

Our training blocks run for 4–6 weeks, each focused on a specific physiological or performance goal such as building muscle, developing maximal strength, improving conditioning, or enhancing core stability. This structured approach means you’re never just “working out” you’re training with intent and moving towards measurable progress.

​

Each phase uses progressive overload and carefully balances variables like volume, intensity, tempo, stability demands, and work-to-rest ratios. This ensures you’re always being challenged in ways that prevent plateaus, reduce injury risk, and support consistent improvement.

 

We train with purpose, precision, and progression. That’s what makes Playground different and what keeps you improving year-round.

A STUDIO THAT BRINGS IT TOGETHER.​

When you step into Playground, you’ll notice this isn’t a generic gym floor. The space is purpose-built to support how you train, move, and recover. Every square metre of our studio has been designed to enhance how you train, move, recover, and progress, whether you’re in your first week or chasing your next personal best. 

​

We don’t clutter the studio with random machines. Every piece of equipment is selected to support our phase-based programming and help you move better: 

​

  •  Free weights & barbells for compound strength development 

  •  Treadmills, SkiErgs, and assault bikes for hybrid conditioning 

  •  Sliders, kettlebells, bands, and rigs for core, mobility, and accessory strength 

  •  Live feedback screens to track your effort in real time

Our layout makes it easy to know where to be, what to do, and how to move, especially when you’re new. Clear signage, coach positioning, and small group numbers mean you always feel supported and never overwhelmed. Even in a group setting, it still feels personal.
